May the best “Green Thumbs” win.

The Righetti Agriculture Department recently began their 2nd Annual “Green Thumb” House Plant Competition.

The contest usually involves freshman in the Ag Science classes receiving a small house plant to take home and care for. But, in a new twist this year, staff members and administrators from the Warrior campus and District Office are participating in the plant growing competition against one another too.

The freshman must research proper caring for their plant and keep it alive and healthy as long as possible. More than 50 staff and administrators must do the same.

Plants will be judged at the end of the school year and the winners will receive a special gift from the Righetti Ag Department, according to Warrior Ag Teacher Amy Guerra. Department staff will judge the plants based on color, size, damage, and overall health, she added.

One very excited Righetti High School staff member, Ms. Crystal Lopez exclaimed, “I have a pretty good green thumb and my fiancé is a garden landscaper, so I have a pretty good advantage in this competition. I am in it to win it!”
