PVHS Dance back button

Pioneer Valley High School student leaders are going out of their way to ensure all students are involved in campus fun on Wednesday, April 1.

The Student Council will host a school dance for severely handicapped Special Education Students from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. inside the cafeteria. Nearly 60 Special Education Students are expected to attend including some from a nearby junior high school.

Panther leaders plan to operate an ice cream bar, facilitate games, face paint and other activities. They will also dress like clowns and have balloon animals.

Special Education Teacher Jody Dowell said the event is an opportunity for all to experience high school in a fun and positive manner.

“It’s a way for current severely handicapped students to celebrate their school pride with non-disabled students,’’ Dowell said. “Many of these Special Education Students, due to complications with their disabilities, do not have the opportunities to engage in Link Crew or other incoming freshman activities.’’
