Appreciating Classified Employees back button

Administrators hope their feet won’t get sore as they fill another person’s shoes on Wednesday, May 20.

The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District has been selected to participate in the state CSEA ACE (Appreciating Classified Employees) Program.

The program is designed as an innovative way to celebrate and call attention to the contributions of classified employees. It’s a positive and engaging way to recognize the work of classified employees and promote understanding between District Staff and Administration, according to Joni McDonald, Assistant Director of Human Resources.

Administrators (superintendents, district-level administrators and principals) will have the opportunity to job shadow a classified employee at Santa Maria, Righetti, Pioneer Valley and Delta high schools.

“Our intention is to allow management the opportunity to job shadow with someone at a different site, in a department that is not one that they normally work with—for example, a manager in M&O (Maintenance and Operations) may shadow a Food

Service Worker and an Assistant Principal may shadow a Plumber,’’ McDonald said.

SMJUHSD is one of 10 school districts in the state participating.
