Crosstown rivals from Pioneer Valley and Santa Maria High Schools will settle ownership of Main Street with events Wednesday and on the football turf Friday night, September 25.
At high noon on Wednesday (September 23), players, coaches, athletic directors and a few administrators from the Panthers and Saints will meet for lunch and some easy-going conversation during the “Main Street Classic” at Cool Hand Luke’s restaurant.
“This is a great way to build tradition and recognition for our student athletes while at the same time emphasizing good sportsmanship between the schools in the SMJUHSD,’’ said PVHS Athletic Director Greg Lanthier.
PVHS has never lost the rivalry in a decade. Current SMHS Head Coach Dan Ellington was formally the PVHS Varsity Football Coach for the last five years.
Whatever the outcome this year, the game will prove to be an exciting and memorable experience for all.
