More than two-dozen alumni musicians will prove it when they march to the field and into the stands with the Santa Maria High School Saints Band during the last home football game on Friday night, October 30.
The student musicians and alumni plan to have a short rehearsal and enjoy some pizza inside the new band room before the night begins. They will play together for the first half of the game.
“I think it's important to invite our Saints Band alumni back because, although things like facilities, directors and musical tastes change, we're all still Saints,’’ said Band Director Aaron Thomas. “It's great for the younger generation to see that pride coming from former band members who may have graduated only a year or two ago, or maybe 20 or 30 years ago. Once a Saint, always a Saint.’’
Alumni, who will play their own instruments, will wear red shirts, sweatshirts or jackets.
