Kennedy Klusendorf’s dream of playing university volleyball has come true.
The Righetti Girls Varsity Volleyball Team standout signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Eastern Illinois University inside the Sword and Shield on Tuesday afternoon, according to Athletic Director Joe Graack.
Klusendorf, a scholar athlete, is more than ready for the “amazing opportunity”.
“I want to give a special thanks to my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and teachers for helping me get to where I am,’’ she said. “I couldn’t be more thankful.’’
Righetti Head Coach Diana Strasbaugh praised her player’s relentless drive.
“When Kennedy first started in our volleyball program, I knew she set a goal to play volleyball in college,’’ said Strasbaugh, adding she also attended volleyball camps with top college coaches. “She dedicated herself to working hard at practices and conditioning in the off season to become one of our program’s strongest players. It’s awesome to see her achieve her goal and I’m proud to have been a part of her journey.’’
