The accomplishments African Americans have made in American History will be celebrated as part of Black History Month at Pioneer Valley High School on Wednesday, February 24.

The event, which is called “Black History: a legacy of strength … a future of hope”, starts at 9:30 a.m. and wraps up about noon. The keynote speaker is Lettie Fulmore, an active member of the NAACP and founder of All My Sisters and Me, a community-based ministry for young women.

More than 1,000 Panthers are scheduled to attend, according to Activity Director Lisa Walters.

Black Student Union member Jada Ford is confident others will find the experience engaging.

“I hope the students that attend our assembly will leave with more information about our culture and Black History compared to what they had when they came in.’’
