The Righetti Varsity Head Wrestling Coach has been pinned with success.
“Dutch” Van Patten, who has spent a dozen years building and maintaining the Warrior program, is now a finalist for the California Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Dutch was notified a few weeks ago and the winner will be announced in June.
“This honor is not for me,’’ Van Patten said. “This goes to all of those who have been part of the Righetti wrestling family and continue to give back to the family each and every year.’’
He has coached several sports for more than 20 years. His wrestling record is 201 wins (dual meet victories) and 58 losses. Under his leadership the team earned league championships several times and many of the athletes have gone on to college or university wrestling programs.
