The Pioneer Valley High School Administration is very pleased to announce the hiring of legendary Wrestling Coach, Kent Olson, to lead the Panther Boys/Girls’ Wrestling Programs.
PVHS is very fortunate that somebody of Coach Olson’s stature was available. For the past 10 years, Mr. Olson was the Head Community College Coach at West Hills College – Lemoore. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach at Lemoore High School for 20 years where his Wrestlers won 16 League Team Championships, 101 Individual League Championships, 17 Central Valley Champions, 24 state place-winners and 4 State Champions. Coach Olson currently has the 2nd most All-Time wins in the State of California and in 2014 he was inducted into the USA WRESTLING HALL of FAME.
"This was one of the most important hires I have been involved with in my six years as AD,’’ Panther Director of Athletics Greg Lanthier said. "Coach Kevin Ilac, who recently resigned, built the PVHS Wrestling program from the school’s inception to its current status as a Central Coast Powerhouse. By any measure, it is the most prestigious and successful sport program on our campus. We felt it was critical to try and hire somebody that had the credentials to continue building on Coach Ilac’s success, and perhaps push the program to another level.’’
Congratulations to Coach Olson and Good Luck to our PVHS Boys/Girls Wrestlers!!!
