SMHS Halloween Haunted House back button

SMHS students will investigate the ghostly legends of the Ethel Pope auditorium this Halloween season, Oct. 27th, 28th and 31st.

The Haunted House is open to students and the community. It will be set inside the historic venue, 901 S. Broadway. The Saint Drama Club and Link Crew will host the event opening day from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the second day, and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Halloween. The price is $3.

There are many stories, folk tales and rumors within the community about strange occurrences inside the auditorium. Whether it’s true or false, some students and staff claim to have seen or felt odd things. A few of the rumors include a woman seen on the catwalks, in the dressing room and looking out the windows of the upper story.

The chilling and fun experience will feature more than 45 dressed students in a variety of costumes behind layers of cobwebs, spooky crows and eerie shadows of a scary clown room, a Dia De Los Muertos room, a Walking Dead room and much more. A local paranormal Investigative Team plans to take on the folklore as part of the program.

Students say they want to provide and share a safe and memorable environment that students and the community can enjoy.

"I wish I had joined Drama Club earlier in my high school years but now as President I would like to give the amazing experience to the new students so that they can be a part of this this special club. Also, being part of the Drama Club is being able to get out of your comfort zone and experience something that might be weird at first, but also feels exciting." -Drama Club President Jorge Araiza 12th grade

"I love being in Drama Club. In drama you have a family who has your back. Drama is the best thing there is! We are so excited to be doing the haunted house this year, as we always are. I'm looking forward to working with my drama family in this awesome event!" -Mally J. Sanchez 9th grade All money raised supports the drama department.
