One of NASA’s 10 Chief Scientists will bring the future of aerospace to Pioneer Valley High School on Friday, January 19.

Albion H. Bowers plans to talk to nearly 300 students who are interested in scientific and engineering-related careers from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the campus.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for our young people to meet and speak with a top research engineer,’’ said Panther Activity Director Lisa Walters. “I’m sure everyone will find the presentation inspiring.’’

Bowers is presently the Chief Scientist at NASA’s Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center, Edwards, Calif. Appointed to the position in March 2014, Bowers is part of the NASA Armstrong strategic planning team that is developing research concepts. As part of that team, Bowers is responsible for defining NASA Armstrong’s strategic direction for the Center, including advanced aeronautical designs, science and research technologies.

Bowers graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is on the university’s Industrial Advisory Board.
