Santa Maria High School students and faculty will highlight their skills during the Saints’ Talent Show this Friday night, March 23rd.
The doors open at 6:30 pm entertainment and starts at 7:00 pm inside the historic Ethel Pope Auditorium, at 901 S. Broadway. Performers include magicians, stand-comedy, pianists, guitar players, administrator & faculty rock bands, student bands, dancers and singers in English and Spanish.
The event was organized by the school’s Drama Club students and also features a special dance choreographed by Drama Club students. More than 85 students and faculty are participating.
Drama Club President Jorge Araiza, stated that, “Our Saints’ Talent Show is important for helping develop self-confidence and school spirit.” Jorge is performing a standup comedy act.
“It helps me and others conquer the fear of performing in front of people,’’ said Drama Club member and performer Daniel Chimal. He believes these strengths will transfer to his college experiences next year.
Drama Club Advisor Glenn Goldin said, “Studies have shown that students who don’t have access to visual performing art classes or clubs may not only miss out on key creative outlets, but might also face greater difficulty mastering core subjects, higher dropout rates, and more disciplinary problems. The arts in education can be life changing.”
Presale tickets can be purchased at the school’s business office or at the door for $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7pm.
