This year, the RHS Athletic Department and Boosters have decided to start the Athletic Hall of Fame again. There will be six former athletes or supporters inducted into the Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony and dinner will be Saturday June 9 at the Far Western Tavern in Orcutt. The tickets are $50 per person and you can purchase them by contacting Dutch Van Patten @ (805) 260-6186. After starting the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003, Righetti High School inducted those who had represented our school or gave our school notoriety through athletics until 2012. The induction committee has met and these are the six people being inducted this year: Mark Betts: Class of 1983
Football - 1st QB to lead RHS to playoffs, All League senior year.
Basketball – Played freshman and sophomore years.
Baseball – All CIF pitcher, career 19-2 as starting pitcher, 2nd lowest career era in school history.
Danica Hardy: Class of 1997
Tennis – 168-0 career league record, 4 x league champ, league mvp 4 x, career record overall 296-12, featured in Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd” Feb. 10, 1997.
Russ Olsen: Supporter
One of the main figures in raising the money and designing the Righetti stadium.
Robert Cummings: Class of 1964
Football – 2 x Warrior of the week varsity.
Basketball - Varsity led team in free throw %.
Baseball – League MVP, First Tem All League both years attended RHS, Hancock Bulldog of the year 1965 and 1966, played professional in Dodgers organization before and after serving in Army from 1967-69.
Lisa Guise Hansen: Class of 1989
Tennis – 4 x all-league, 2-year league MVP, 2 x singles league champ.
Basketball – 3-years All League.
Softball – 3-years All League, 2-year all CIF Division 1, 4-year varsity starter, Full Ride to Arizona, 2 national titles as starter, senior year athlete of the year.
Ronnie Buchanan: Class of 1998
Cross Country – 4 X League Champ 1 of 2 in history, 2x SB County Champ, CIF div 2 champ, 2x all state, 3 x all western region, 2nd team all American senior year.
Arizona State 4xletter award, 2x NCAA qualifier, All PAC 10.
Track – 3x League champ 3200, 2x league champ 1600, 2x all state 3200 meters, All American 5000 meters Arizona State – All Pac 10 5000 meters.
Coaching – Currently Head Coach at Mesa Mountain View HS, 43 all-state and, 89 all-region athletes, six straight region team titles and six top 5 region titles.
