Delta High School Pennies for Patients back button

Delta High School pennies parlayed into dollars to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The Dragons recently raised more than $800 during their community service project “Pennies For Patients” for the LLS. The check will be mailed to the LLS soon.

The students decorated classroom doors with inspirational sayings such as “Keep Fighting” and “Stay Strong” and others as part of the campaign to encourage those who are fighting blood cancer.

“We met our goal and that was a huge accomplishment for our group of students,’’ said DHS Math Teacher Jenna Dee. “As a continuation school, many of our students come from very heartbreaking backgrounds. But, we never cease to be amazed at their kindness, resiliency and generosity.’’

Principal Esther Prieto-Chavez said the students and staff did a “fantastic job” for such a “meaningful cause”.
