Expect a star-spangled evening as Military Signing Day takes place at Righetti High School on Monday, June 4th.

More than a dozen Warrior seniors, their recruiters and families plan to celebrate joining our military at this first-ever 6:30 p.m. event inside the cafeteria. The future service members have committed to serve in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

"I think it takes a special kind of person to decide to make the commitment we all decided to make,’’ said Brithney Vicente, who will soon join the Army. “To be able to recognize and celebrate it with our close friends and family is something I'm always going to look back on, value and appreciate."

"It feels nice to be recognized for the decision I'm making and I really appreciate everyone putting this together for us,’’ said Savvy Carlson, who is ready for the Navy.

Teacher Dutch Van Patten believes the recognition is long overdue.

“Athletes and graduates are celebrated with signings and ceremonies and these young people should be too,’’ Van Patten said. “Realistically, these kids are signing full-rides. They are all making a good choice. This is a positive thing.’’
