Bold, vivid paintings of Santa Maria’s valley landscapes and agriculture are on display inside the new Performing Arts Center at Pioneer Valley High School.

The student-artists decided to paint scenes of the Central Coast with a special emphasis on honoring farm workers. The acrylic creations feature a variety of scenes, including picking, plowing and processing produce.

Art teacher George Karamitsos believes the students produced an “amazing” show.

“I hope that seeing their work displayed in such a beautiful space will help them to fully realize their talent,’’ Karamitos said. “Working with this group of students was a very rewarding in experience.’’

The students included Vanessa Osalde (12th), Rolando Ramirez (12th), Evelyn Cuevas (12th), Jennefer Oropeza (11th), Angelina Salas (11th), Oscar Medina (10th), Xareni Hernandez (12th), Beatriz Leon (12th) and Teresita Porch (11th).

The students took anywhere from two to three weeks to complete the paintings. There is one painting of Monument Valley in the show.
