PVHS Physics Students Build and Launch Rockets

PVHS Rockets

May 17, 2022

PVHS Physics of the Universe (POU) classes will be launching rockets built from scratch from the softball field on May 25th, 26th, and/or 27th.

Estes B6-4 engines power the two stage rockets. The class is a conceptual physics class that adds earth science into the mix.

“I love math and I want to make a lot of money so I may pursue a career in rocket science,’’ said student Andres Zarate, 9th grade.

The idea behind the student projects is to have them engaged in the local phenomena, according to Panther Teacher Stephen Ryan.

“My classes have done research on VSFB, Space X, and Launch Alliance and it’s a great way to tie in how mathematics and physics can be applied to rocket science,’’ Ryan added. “VSFB just launched the Starlink Mission, which carried communication satellites that was asked for by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Elon Musk.’’
