PVHS Hosts 'Cash for College' Event

PVHS Cash for College

More than 200 PVHS students received guidance last week regarding completion of their FAFSA or California Dream Act applications during a few Cash for College nights. The next events are scheduled for Dec. 6th and 8th inside the Panther library.

The PV Counseling and Guidance staff collaborated with Allan Hancock College's CalSoap, The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara and others to host the effort.

"We were honored to have Congressman Salud Carbajal come visit with our students as well as our Assistant Superintendent, Mr. John Davis, and the President of Allan Hancock College, Dr. Walthers,'' said PV College & Career Specialist Melani Teixeira. "This is truly a team effort, and we were very pleased with the turnout."

"The Cash for College event was SUPER helpful and not stressful, and it really helped take the stress away from me and my dad from having to fill out the application by ourselves,' said student Makai Copado. "After I graduate from Pioneer Valley High School, I plan to attend a four-year university to study the performing arts, specifically to get a BFA in theatre arts."
