The Human Resources Department supports the district by hiring, developing, and retaining highly qualified employees.
Santa Maria Joint Union High School District employs two classifications of employees:
- Certificated Employees hold positions that require a specific authorization, credential, permit, certificate, or waiver depending on the assignment. These positions are typically related to instruction (i.e., teachers, counselors, administrators, psychologists, etc.).
- Classified Employees hold positions that do not require a specific authorization, credential, permit, certificate, or waiver. These positions may be either instructional or non-instructional (i.e., clerical, custodial, maintenance, food service, business, instructional support, technology, etc.).
